dansen_met_vleugels.jpgI found more information of interest to me in Netlibrary books than eAudiobooks.  Everything from Indonesian cooking, to books on blue music and the ukulele, and lots of titles on recovery.  The audiobook source, with a little searching, revealed thing i would take on vacation with my IPod.

To wrap up this Learning 2.0 exercise, I would rate it as fun, informative, and at times, surprising.  I would have preferred to break it into more exercises with a bit more time and depth to each, perhaps as many as 23 weekly sessions of an hour each.  At this point, in need to click on Del.icio.us to remember what it is. The find of the whole process, for me, was Pandor.com.  I am a Pandora evangelist now….come to

old stringsThis was far from my first time on this site.  I have used it a lot for viewing and listening to music performances, from Avril Legigne’s Lil’Mama mix of Boyfriend, to old films of Mississippi John Hurt, a famous delta bluesman [see link in previous post: "Pandora"].  I regularly visit looking for various popular culture titles, looking at the picks of the day, or starting with a subject and just following interesting links.

Charlie Patton, father of Delta bluesOne of the greatest finds on Secondlife has been the CC Loon Blues museum, conceived and created by avatar Chriscloud Loon, whose first life counterpart is a Romanian man living in Germany who tells me he did not search out the blues, they came to him.  In the last 5 months, over 160 titles have been added to my ipod as a result of the historical information learned on this site.  Pandora radio, with its access to the Music Genome Project, has proved a valuable, incredibly fun adjunct for listening to various blues styles.  It links songs and artists to other similar titles, provides biographical links, and discographies.

Bookmobile Librarian Steve Perrier descibed a successful business model as one that involved product, presentation, and personality.  In applying it to outreach, such as Bookmobile service,he made us aware that it fits the profile of new models of service, in general.  It is taken to the people, not passive; the popular material is the most highly desirable titles and subjects; and the service is up close and personal and customers feel well acquanted with staff.

Spiderweb 2.0

nun1.jpgIt has been gratifying to see that Web 2.0 is centered on its usefulness to the library user and, at the same time, give libraries better access to both quantitative and qualitative data on users and services.

Library Thing

My page on Library Thing: http://www.librarything.com/catalog/dnunes

Users (informally known as thingamabrarians, a term coined by Wikipedia contributor RJO) can catalog personal collections, keep reading lists, and meet other users who have the same books. While it is possible to keep a library catalog private, most people choose to make their catalogs public, which makes it possible to find others with similar tastes. Thingamabrarians can browse the entire database by searching titles, authors, or tags generated by users as they enter books into their libraries.
